Location, Location, Location

Paris Views

We looked at renting an apartment on a charming little rue in the 5th, with a view of this. Which would have been amazing, had it not been for the rowdy British pub across the street.

We're still looking.

Living next to a pub is not a good idea! Have a good week. Diane

If only it were that easy! After living in quiet villages for 12 years, we're more sensitive to living across the street from noisy bars. :)

Diane
I agree! You too, thanks.

Thanks for the link, Richard. We are looking to rent for a year or more and although this place is available after mid January, a year (according to the website) would cost over $100,000!

I'm renting a place facing Blvd Voltaire and there is a loud bar across the way. I can attest it really is a kind of hell. (I never can sleep before 2:30am!) I think you did the right thing moving on, but such a shame.

Such a shame about the "British Pub" . They can be pretty noisy at closing time :-( Hope you find somewhere suitable.

We used to live in the French Quarter in New Orleans, so I can totally understand!

I'm trying to keep the faith that it will. Thanks! :)

Anne
We will eventually...fingers crossed!

English? Really? Sounds very snobby to me - afterall no matter how 'French' you pretend to be you are a Yank when all said and done.

While I do admit to being a snob about some things - cheese, bread, Mexican food - I’m definitely not snobby about English pubs. Or Irish pubs. Or pubs in general. Just not excited by the idea of living across the street from one in a centuries old apartment building with single pane windows.
And yes, I may be a Yank (so charming of you to call me that, btw), I am also a French citizen, so I’m not actually “pretending” to be French.

An English pub is probably better than English football fans refusing to let a French black man entry to a Metro car....
