Love Livarot. Run away at the first whiff of choucroute. Worst thing is being stuck next to a restaurant patron who orders a big platter of the thing, and carrying the smell on your clothes for the rest of the day... :-) -- But, like for everything else: "Tous les goûts sont dans la nature" (to each his own.) Interesting. Both have strong smells and are probably quite divisive. Me, I love both! :)

I'm with you... Choucroute has never been a favourite. :)

I love the cheese. Since I like most sausage, I would love to try the choucroute.
And I love your photos!

We're in agreement on the choucroute. Too many other, wonderful meals to enjoy.

I'm curious about the move from South to Normandy. I know you love it there- but any other issues/advice for state-siders contemplating a move? Trying to pick an area (once you realize Paris is not affordable on your income) is so tough.

Hello,
Well, love both but eat the first most weeks the other not often... but love mostly going to the Graindorge 'cheese factory' in Livarot. Have you been? I keep dragging my guests there as it has a little museum and a tour of the plant. The best bit is the 'gift shop' - yes all the fresh cheese and cream you need - their cream is so good also...
Hope you are well.

My husband loves it too. I can see the comfort aspect.

Véronique
I know! The aroma is horrible!

Katja
Would you like to come and make some for my husband? I refuse to! :)

Camille
I wish I could learn to love choucroute...maybe I'll try again in a few years.

Giulia
I think loving choucroute is required if you live in Alsace!

Chantal
I was sure I wasn't the only one! :)

I enjoy the sausages in the dish, it's the cabbage I'm not a fan of. You should try it!

TCH
You are not alone!

Hope you get some soon...it sounds like you should! :)

I'm starting to think that maybe I'm in the minority.
Maybe?

Tracy
You too? Yes, I'm definitely in the minority here. :)

SE
Yes, like cassoulet!
Trying to pick one area of France is extremely difficult because it depends on what you plan to do (work wise - if you need to), if you have kids, what kind of weather you're looking for, rural/city/sea/mountains, etc.
I wrote about our move here: http://chezlouloufrance.blogspot.fr/2011/11/saying-au-revoir.html
Hope that helps explain it!

Ivan
Yes, I've been! And would love to go back. I buy their cream at a store over here, it is delicious!
