Photo du Jour - Floating Garden

Barge Herb Garden

A canal barge herb garden, floating on the Canal du Midi. Now, this is my kind of gardening!

This week's entry to Your Sunday Best, hosted by A Rural Journal and to Sunday's in My City by Unknown Mami.

Lovely photo and concept. If I get my blog moving again -- very difficult these days -- I might have to get into some of these weekly events.

Very Creative photo! I like the focus on the herbs yet the perspective of the trees brings your eye back to the herbs. Great job! I like the idea of the location of the herb garden.. very creative as well!

I would love a canal trip, to be able to hop off/on in the little villes, riding a bike to reconnect with the boat. Lovely perspective in your photo, too!

Thanks! It was a lovely, warm evening and I was just taking random shots. I'm happy with the way it came out.

The owners of the péniche do a lot of cooking. :)

I love those trees that line the canal, though they are the cause of very annoying hay fever/ allergies every late spring!

It would be lovely to float down the canal with garden on board! Great shot!

Have you ever taken a trip along one of the canals of France? I never have, but have heard that it is wonderful!

Love it! Also my idea of a perfect garden!

Lovely idea. Do people live in these boats? I watched a programme that showed people living on houseboats floating down french rivers. Now that would be living!

I'd love to float on the barge, but I'm pretty sure my herbs would die in the pot!

Merci! Serenity is an easy mood to capture along the Canal. :)

Glad you like it!

Many of the barge owners have gardens or at least flower pots on their decks. They are truly floating homes!

Just imagine yourself sitting in a comfy chair with a glass of cold rosé and that view.

I am a true lover of container gardening!

Murissa
Yes, there are many who live barges like this.
This péniche is a hotel barge, the Athos, which is owned by some friends of ours. We had dinner on board last month before the season began.

I do well with herbs...except for basil. Can never seem to keep it alive!
