Photo du Jour - Les Olives

Les Lucques, hanging heavy on the tree. Soon to be harvested and crushed into a heady, silky, grassy flavored oil.
It takes about 7-9 kilos of olives to make 1 liter of olive oil. Pin It

those are beautiful looking olives. Do you cure them as well? I have been buying olive oils and am amazed at their different flavor profiles. I am pretty new at tasting them but like the spicy acidic kinds more than the earthier types.

I would love to go to an Olive Harvest, just missed last years by one week, when on holiday in Liguria!!

Yum! Lucques are my favorite olives to eat cured! I don't know that I've ever had olive oil made from them. Another reason to visit the Minervois!

Have a great weekend!

No, I don't cure my own, but I should!
I usually go for the more spicy olive oil too.

There is a mill not far from here where one can go in the early winter and watch the olives being crushed. The aroma is amazing!
There doesn't seem to be an organized olive harvest around here like there is for the grapes.

The oil is fantastic and yes, it gives you another reason. :)
