After being served Floc du Gascogne by my elderly hostess in a tiny town in the Gers I searched for it everywhere, finally finding it at Nicolas. Doh! A great aperitif!
My friend, blogger Farmgirl Susan, sent me a link to this post and it was like a breath of spring in the middle of a cold, snowy winter. Almost fifteen years ago my husband and I took my parents on Kate's barge for eight days. Heaven... Even my Type A husband said it was his favorite vacation ever. Thanks for the lovely photos.
judi Thank you for your comment! I'm happy that the photos brought a bit of spring during your long winter. You should come back to France and stay in Kate's pigeonnier on the banks of the canal in Gascony. It is a heavenly, peaceful place!
Please thank Susan for sharing the link with you. Her blog is one of my favorites!

The wind can be very unsettling I know.
We got lucky and had beautiful, sunny weather.

Wonderful stuff, isn't it! We live only a couple of hours from Gascony but never see it for sale down here.

We had poule au pot for lunch on Sunday chez Kate and went to a little café in Nérac the following day for a delicious, simple lunch.
I'm afraid I don't want to trade! :)
I'd love to visit Kate. I imagine it was wonderful. Happy birthday.

Kate's a great friend and I feel very fortunate to know her. And am happy that she lives so close!
