On the Menu in August
August is finally here, and for most people in France this important date means that les vacances have finally arrived. For me, August means that it's time to enjoy cherries, apricots, peaches, melons, nectarines, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers and all the delicious produce of summer.
The season is short, so I plan on getting into the kitchen and making the most of it!
Chilled Tomato Soup with Basil
Heirloom Tomato Salad with Pomegranate-Sumac Dressing (the Kitchn)
Tarte Dijonnaise
Cheese and Tomato Galette (Eat. Live. Travel. Write. and Dorie Greenspan)
Zucchini Carpaccio served with a Mozzarella Tomato Salad (Life's A Feast)
Stuffed Tomatoes
Eggplant Parmesan
Watermelon Sorbet (NY Times)
Sour Cherry Frozen Yogurt
Cherry Mess (David Lebovitz)
Cherry Clafoutis (Ann Mah)
Fresh Peach Tart

Thanks for linking to my galette :) Lots of yumminess in here - Tarte Dijonnaise? Yes please!!
I love this time of year too - cherries and peaches are my favourites and I love to add both in lieu of pineapple to homemade pizza with buffalo mozza, basil, olive oil base, thin crust oh and a bit of prosciutto & parmesan to finish it off.

Well, I know what I'm going to be doing this weekend -- drooling over all those recipes, making notes. Merci.
Oh, I have my eye on that sour cherry frozen yogurt, yes I do...
Looks like you are going to be having fun cooking some very good food! Bon Appétit!

Tarte Dijonnaise is a sublime dish. You must try it! Then let me know what you think. :)

That sounds interesting! Would never have thought of it.
Emm
I hope you had a great weekend of cooking. :)
Ann
Oh...that is a truly heavenly treat. I know you have a new ice cream maker so you have to try it!

I always do!
I've been making Mirabelle clafoutis like mad... But no cherries here. The season is long over and they weren't very good - too much rain. Beautiful produce!
Yum what a great collection
Shirazi Persian Salade is easy peasy - just cucumbers, tomatos, sweet onion all chopped + lime juice and dried Spearmint crushed on top.

Love love love the recipes!! Can't wait to try the sour cherry frozen yogurt! Especially in this heat we've been having! A little sad strawberry season is already over but ooo do I love cherries and peaches!
Slow roasted cherry times with thyme, splash of olive oil, honey & mustard. Served warm with a fresh baguette. The essence of summer!

We've had a pretty good cherry season, thankfully! Never thought of making Mirabelle Clafoutis though. That sounds great!

That sounds wonderful. Must try!
Hi Jennifer,
I'm setting up a blogger blog and like your comment page layout(http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID...)which is different from the default and includes a 'choose an identity' section. Could you please tell me how this page was done?
Thanks,
David

I customized the HTML. If you google a bit, you'll be able to find a tutorial. Good luck!
Those look really good. Yummmm.
