New Year's Intentions

Today's celebration started off with Champagne. Just as it should have.

The idea of making New Year's resolutions just isn't me, and never has been.

Resolutions seem negative. They imply that we've been bad in the last twelve months and need to change our behavior. That we haven't been good enough.

Intentions however, suggest that we are already good enough and we have positive and exciting new ideas for our future.

Thinking about the New Year brought these words to mind:

Creativity
Comfort
Choice
Contented
Confidence
Calm
Clarity

Chèvre au lait cru

and
Cheese

What are your New Year's intentions?

You have a good man there, J!!
Like the idea of "intentions" - mine are coming up in a blog post but really revolve around achieving better balance!

I also love the idea of "intentions." It is also less binding than the idea of "resolutions." Once you've broken a resolution, you have failed - but you can keep an intention all year.

This is a nice idea. Why do we beat ourselves up so much? Intentions for me this year! Although I never did resolutions, anyway. Happy New Year!

No resolutions ever, not when one lives in the present and not the future! (Maybe Barrie should have written : more and more caresses?)

Loulou, I'm in Cannes now with the family and enjoy so much life and all things French... For the past 10 years, my most important thing-- can call it an intention, has been to increase the time spent in France each year... Can say, we get better and better at it:-) and I feel really thankful for the 10 weeks I have here, while working full time in another country.
Bonne Annee et beaucoup de sante!

less procrastination! :)

I think "cupcakes" would fit in well with your C-themed intentions for next year. :P

happy New Year!

Love your way of thinking! I never make resolutions... although am definitely willing to use the idea of "Intentions."

Happy New Year!

Cheese is certainly an intention I intend to court. As is wine.

I intend to stick with the motto that always serves me well, "less is more" -- and continue trying to incorporate into all parts of my life :)
Happy new year!

I intend to refine. I want to make sure that the energy I expend to do anything is worth it!

Barrie
That's the best intention ever! xxoo

Lindsey
I do! :)
Balance is very important and it sounds like you're headed in the right direction in achieving that.
Happy New Year!

I like that too! I've always felt that resolutions were so fleeting and know very few people who make them and actually stick to them. Intentions put a positive spin on a new year.
Bonne Année my friend.

We do beat ourselves up, and I don't know why we do that either. While it is good to want to better ourselves, we will never be perfect, and the sooner we realize that, the happier we'll be. :)

I'm sure he would agree to that too!
Bonne Année!

If there ever was a good intention, spending more time in France is it! :)
Happy New Year to you and your family and enjoy your time in Cannes.

Andrea
A very important goal. It is easy to take those around us for granted sometimes. Wishing you a very happy 2013!

I procrastinate a lot too...that's one I could try to work on as well.
Cupcakes fit in quite well with the C theme. I will happily add them!
Happy New Year!
