Tourteau de Chèvre
- we used to get these at a bakery when we lived in the charante in the late 60s. then Kate Hill wrote a blog post about them recently. all my memories came flooding back. so i started making them myself. it took a little doing and adjusting to the chèvre available here (canada) but i finally pretty well nailed them down to what i remembered. these ARE sublime...unlike anything else !

There are so many ways to enjoy goat cheese. Last weekend, we went to Redwood Hill Farm one of the first and best producers of goat cheese here in Northern California and we were served a wonderful goat's milk blueberry ice cream.

I love fromage de chèvre, but I seldom have it in the house. How do I convince my husband that it tastes good, he says it is terrible and will not even try it any more!! Diane

Fromage de Chevre is only, like, my reason for being! I love it as a pizza topping as well as a salad topping, but my favorite would have to be just a plain 'ole log rolled in herbs and lemon zest, to spread on crackers. I'll be saving this post so I can make my sweet way through this list!

Oh, I love these ideas! I have goats and make lots of chevre (as well as other cheeses), and I'm always looking for more things to try it in.

The other day I made zucchini chevre fritters that were divine-- my new favorite fritter! I've been thinking about trying some ice cream with chevre blended in...

I live in an area where the best known fromage de chèvre is called Sainte Maure. I love eating it with good bread and good wine (wine of the Loire) when it is fondant or very dry. Warmed with a little honey and thyme and served with a salad with walnut oil is also delicious :)

What GORGEOUS ideas -- and just in time for summer! My favorite way is in a salade of chèvre chaud. The meltiness of warmed goat cheese makes me gooey inside.

It's great on pizza and I love a round of fresh chèvre rolled in toasted, crushed hazelnuts, warmed a bit and put on a salad.

I love Sainte Maure de Touraine and I'm sure it would be delicious drizzled with walnut oil. Great idea!

I love those salads too. They're on almost every menu in the Languedoc.
