Photo du Jour - What Took Us So Long?

water and sand

On Wednesday we took a drive up the Cotentin peninsula to Saint-Vaast la Hougue. After lunch we explored a little bit and as we sat on the tip of this stretch of beach in Réville, looking back toward the port of Saint-Vaast, we wondered why we had waited nine years to visit this exceptionally beautiful region of France? Did you eat oysters? St-Vaast is famous for them. Walt and I drove up there to eat oysters in 2005. We also saw Barfleur, a beautiful little port a few miles north of St-Vaast.

The sandy beach, the sea extends beyond, calm and exquisite.

Neither of us are huge oyster fans, so we didn't try any. We saw lots of signs for them though.
We almost drove up to Barfleur, but didn't. It gives us a good reason to head back up there!

Diane
Thanks! If you ever head this way, you should definitely visit.

You're more than welcome!

Sharon
It is a serene spot in winter. Though I imagine that in the summertime it might be very different!

Calm is exactly how I felt when I was standing out there taking photos.
