The cheeses that I discover for my French cheese tasting project, now in its fourth year, never cease to amaze me. There seems to be an endless array of alluring shapes and sizes to delight the consumer, and my most recent find is definitely proof of that.
Voilà La Clochette - "the little bell."
If I had to describe this charming fromage de chèvre in one word it would be feminine. Everything about
It even comes wrapped in a label reminiscent of the sash that a beauty pageant contestant would wear.
La Clochette's flavor is a wonderful mélange of mellow cream, salt, sweet grasses and a hint of that distinctive chèvre flavor. It has a rich, dense mouthfeel and a flavor that lingers and lingers. Delicious!
It is produced in the Poitou-Charentes region, aged for 2-4 weeks and should be enjoyed before it turns 45 days old.
This cheese is perfect when paired with a light red wine from or a Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley.

J'adore la Clochette-- jolie et délicieuse, apparently. Thanks for another discovery! Hope packing is going smoothly for you. Someone must have decided we had to move too and broke into our house on Monday. They took a lot of personal stuff. I will be writing a story about it for Monday's post. Had to get it out of my system! Bon weekend! -- Veronique
Oh that looks and sounds heavenly. I want some! :)
Looks and sounds delicious!
I hope to indulge with a cheese plate this weekend and a winery as the snow falls here in BC, Canada.

Enjoy your beautiful, snowy weekend in BC. With lots of cheese and wine, of course!
Sounds lovely. Maybe we can find you some new cheeses this weekend!
Oh my goodness how this post has made me hungry.
You're moving! And I didn't get a chance to meet you. (Hopefully I told you I had not made the trip to Avignon after all. Bad weather). Good luck on your move.
This looks out of this world. I love cheese and I am thinking on jumping through my computer screen to get it.

I came home from Paris with a new one. Didn't really take the time to look too much.
LOVED the Selles-sur-Cher that we bought too!
