Not Quite...

Not Quite Ripe

I usually wander out into the vineyards sometime in mid August to check out the grapes.
They're coming along.  Ripening a bit more slowly than last year, but the reports from our vigneron neighbors are positive.
Can't wait to try the 2010 vintage. Pin It

Our grapes are also very slow this year, maybe a good sign? Diane

Hopefully it is!

You are looking at those grapes thinking "wine and cheese".
Yesterday I read a man's magazine at a doctor's office. The tittle of an article was "nobody eat Asiago anymore". Among five other cheese, they recommended "le crayeux de tomme" (if I remember the name right. I think it comes from Savoie. Have you ever tried it?)

Never tried that one but it sounds great. I'll have to look for it!

The grapes do look good! Back in Bordeaux they are telling us that despite the hottest summer in 35 years in some places the grapes are fine. I think the hot summer will give high alcohol levels in the wine though!

Bordeaux has had the hottest summer? I think we've had one of the coolest Augusts I can remember.
Yesterday our neighbor said that he won't start picking for another 2-3 weeks, and it seems like the vendange started around this time last year.
