Bonne Année!

In France it is considered bad luck to wish someone a Happy New Year until it is actually the first of January. I wish they would put that in the manual or something because our first couple of years here I was going around jinxing friends, neighbors, even the mayor by wishing them a Bonne Année before the actual event.
Fortunately one of our neighbors kindly informed me of my faux pas and I have since mended my ways.

I would like to wish you and yours a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year!

Bonne Année et Bonne Santé!

It's the same here in Germany, except before New Year's they wish each other a guten Rutsch- a "good slide" into the New Year.

Happy New Year and bonne sante, Jennifer for you and your husband. I'd like to thank you for the great enjoyment you've given me over the past two years. Since spending the last winter in France, your blog brings me very close to Caunes Minervois, where we lived, and Olonzac and the surrounding area, where we ate and shopped. Merci beaucoup. Theresa

Ok. So I can officially say Bonne Année pour toi!

Bonne année à toi (which I think I have already said to you on some other social network...or maybe even on your blog before Jan. 1!) I was aware of the faux pas but figures it doesn't apply to Americans.

Word verification: floop

Could it be a scoop that turns out to be a flop?

I wish the same to you, especially now that you can eat cheese again. :)

Good slide? I like that.
Happy New Year!

Theresa
Thanks for your comment! Hope you will come back one of these days. Bonne Année!

Hooma
Yes, it is now official. :)
Wishing you a very happy new year!
Do you ever come back to France?

Betty
No, it doesn't count with us. We can say it to each other and it isn't bad luck.
Happy New Year my friend! Looking forward to our next meet-up, wherever it may be.

A floop definitely sounds like a scoop that flopped.

Happy New Year to you too!

I guess french people don't send Christmas cards either, just new year's cards and after the fact. I think they don't buy baby clothes, gifts before the baby is born either because that would bring bad luck! Baby showers didn't happen when I lived in France.
(Hawaii was wonderful as usual. Very hard coming back home this time). Happy new-year to you, hoping you will find a great job!
