Photo du Jour - le Port de Gruissan

The port at Gruissan.
Last Sunday it was sunny and 60 degrees - we sat outside and enjoyed lunch under brilliant blue skies. Today the rain is pouring down.
But you'll hear no weather complaints from me. We have power, we're warm and I can cook. Unlike last Sunday! Pin It

Oh, sun! My daughter and I might head south for a night+day Feb. 8th and 9th, especially if the weather is nice. Any suggestions for a little port-type town, not too long a drive from us...??? Nothing Cap d'Agde-ish of course.

Mèze is really nice, on the Etang de Thau. http://www.ville-meze.fr/
I've also heard that Bouzigues is nice, but I've never been there. http://www.bouzigues.fr/
Sète is much bigger than these two, so there might be more going on in the winter.

Hope you get to come down for some sea and sun!

Yes, we were invited both evenings to friend's homes for dinner. They took pity on us! :)

Thanks for the suggestions! I've never heard of the first two, although I have heard of the Etang de Thau. I've been to Sète and it was charming but I don't want to end up shopping a lot, which is always the danger with a teenager and a larger town, lol!

There isn't much shopping in Meze, especially during the winter. I think it is a charming little town.

I"m leaning to there. Of course as I said, only weather permitting. It would be more than depressing to descend the Pas de l'Escalette and be in driving rain.

Oh, the weather is looking lousy for Tuesday and Wednesday so we probably won't be doing this. Maybe next weekend? Or some other weekend? Anyway, thanks for your advice -- I hope to do this at some point. I've kept the name Mèze in mind.

I hope you get a good couple of days of sun in Mèze. I wish I could drive over and have a coffee with you but I'm leaving in a couple of days for 3 weeks. Let me know if you go and what you thought.
