Photo du Jour - Lunch

Our anniversary lunch was spent in an oratory that was constructed in the 7th century.
It is now an ultra modern restaurant that holds one Michelin étoile. (which we didn't know until this morning!)

Thank you! Happy New Year to you too!

Merci!!!
It has been 9 years. Seems like it has gone by so quickly.
Hope you've enjoyed the holidays.

Merci! Oui, le chef est mignon. :)
The food was excellent. He has embraced the "molecular gastronomy" trend, which I don't like and think is passé. It was like eating in a chemistry lab. But the flavor was wonderful!

Thank you for adding a bit of beauty to our world with your amazing photographs.

I just love that picture! Happy anniversary! What a romantic day to get married.

I think it's so funny you sent Mele Cotte the Brive mustard because she sent me food last year -- and Brive mustard is one of my favorites, I think I sent it to whomever I was to send to last year! I'm sorry that I didn't participate this year, that is a fun event.

I like the way the photo came out too. We wanted to get married on New Year's Eve, but all of the wedding places were full. So we got married on the 29th. :)
Season's Eatings was a fun event! I loved the gift I received and it was interesting to see what other people sent. I'll do it again next year.

Interested to see this, Loulou -- we've been going (very occasionally) to the St Crescent for 10 years now, since before it had the star and the cute chef. Lionel's dad Claude used to run it, and I absolutely loved it; it was my favourite local restaurant and our default option for special occasions. Dazzlingly good food, classic but with original touches.

It's true Lionel is talented, but it's too gimmicky now and we haven't been for a long while (well over a year). Côté Jardin in Conilhac is the new special occasion place, and our restaurant of choice in Narbonne is les Cuisiniers Cavistes (behind les Halles).

Happy 2009!

We had been here twice before, once I think when his father was the chef and the second time when Lionel had just taken over. I am NOT happy with the direction he has taken - gimmicky is exactly the right word! It's really a shame.

We've also been to Côté Jardin in Conilhac and thought it was excellent. That was a couple of years ago. Maybe next year we'll go back there for our anniversary.
We've never been to les Cuisiniers Cavistes but we have friends who recommend it.
If you learn of any other good places, please let me know! :)
