Photo du Jour - Crooked

I've been home from Paris for almost a week now and have just started sorting through the photos I've taken over the last month.

This is one of my favorites.

As I snapped it, I noticed a man walking up the shallow river in the center of Bayeux toward this building. He was carrying a tall ladder, so I assumed he was there to fix the crooked shutter.
Coincidentally, I met him the next day while tasting cider and Calvados at the Bayeux market and he told me that he was the owner. He was out there fixing the sign, not the shutter, and that it is a wine bar called Le Volet Qui Penche.

I can't wait to try it.

The crooked shutter gives this place character!

I accidentally deleted your comment, so reprinted it under me. Sorry about that!
I think the crooked shutter gives the place character too. I'm glad the owner kept it!

I have bookmarked the place

( Hopefully next year or in May 2014 - just need to convince hubby that it is not always cold in Normandie in May)

So, the shutter is the bar's signature? I LOVE it. Can't wait to hear a report!

Let me know! It would be fun to meet up.

The owner is really nice, which is always appreciated.

It is! I'll let you know as soon as we get there.

I like the "ghost" signage on the building, too. It all works together to make the photo - including just the splash of red flowers in the corner.

A place I'd like to visit to photograph - and then inside for a glass of red!

We've been several times now. It's a wonderful little bar à vins. :)
