A great image - they can be highly amusing and intelligent. I recently learned that the mother cows appoints a babysitter among them to look after the babies as they wander to graze. The baby will often remain lying in grass till mum returns.
Sharon Glad to hear that you had a good trip. When are you coming back? :)
Betty There seemed to be 2 different varieties there - one pale beige and the other with spots. I don't remember what the Aveyron cows looked like. I'll have to go back through my photos.

My father had names for all our cows on the farm when I was a child.

Beautiful photo. (Beautiful cow)
Ha! That cow looked none too pleased to have its photo taken.

The cows must be thanked for all those delicious cheeses! Several of which we've enjoyed this week. :)

Do you remember any of their names?

They actually appoint a babysitter? How interesting!

I thought he was very zen. Perhaps used to having his photo taken?
What a face! Great photo, I hope you're having a wonderful trip. We are back in the states now, but loved every minute of our trip to France.
Interesting coloring on that cow. Definitely not the same breed we have here...
