An old, shuttered up home in the center of our village.
I don't know its history but am not sure it was really a café. It doesn't have the appearance of a café front, so it seems to me that the owners just playfully painted the sign above the door.

It must have been at some time. The sign remained and the rooms evolved.
In the Andalusian village where we are now, almost none of the shops look like shops. They're just people's front rooms. Some of them don't even have signs, because in a small place with a stable population, everyone knows where the shops are. Perhaps this was something similar.
It is really odd going into a front room and finding it full of chiller cabinets with bits of pig in them :)
Whatever, it makes a great photo. Diane
Such houses are fascinating - one can ponder endlessly about its past. Great photo.
We have quit a few houses with cafe or bar written on the exterior in Brittany! I do wonder what their story is!?
If they ever opened up as a 'cafe' again, I'd certainly be willing to drink a coffee there and soak up the charm.
i'm going to pass on the mystery of the cafe and go straight back to your cherry post.......yum, yum, yum!
happy third week of june! (already?)
Love the picture!
Perhaps a playful way to joke with the tourists?

I didn't think it could have been because the facade looks too much like a house. Maybe I'm wrong?
Veronica
Great story! Maybe this place was like that.
Diane
Thanks!

I wonder about it every time I walk by. We do have a neighbor who might know...I should ask him.
A trifle rushed
I've never seen one with such a simple painted sign. I'll have to look out for others.

Our village used to have a few cafés, now there's only one. It has a great terrace for enjoying a drink in the summer!

Yes, already...
unbelievable!
Murissa
No...the village doesn't get enough tourists to warrant any jokes being played. :)

I love old buildings too. Especially with lots of texture, faded shutters, peeling paint, etc. Glad you enjoyed this one.
