I actually haven't tried it, but I've been meaning to, especially since I'm reading "An Infinity of Little Hours" which is about the Carthusians, though not specifically about the Monastery in France that produces Chartreuse, but the one in England.

Also, I recently read a quote that someone said it was the only liquor good enough to have a color named after it!

Very true...
Had a great one, thanks! Hope you did as well.

I've heard mixed reviews about its flavor. Guess I'll have to try it and see!

I have...when I was living in Grenoble back in 1998! Went to a monastery where Chartreuse was made...was beautiful and intoxicating!

Now I'm definitely intrigued. I'll let you know what I think! Did you try the yellow or the green?

Oh dear, yes i know it well! Back when I was around 18, my friends and I had quite regular competitions when we were out at a bar, we called it 'chartreuse hold'em' , whereby a group of people had to hold a shot of chartreuse in their mouth, and the longest to do so without swallowing won. This may not sound hard until you actually attempt it! after 1 particulary bad night, i think my entire mouth was numb for 2 days! Being from provincial New Zealand, I was very proud that I often won this! *now hangs head in shame
