I took these photos in Saint Guilhem le Désert last week. The shell motif, a symbol of the pilgrimage route, is next to a water source outside the Abbey, which was founded at the beginning of the 9th century. The Abbey was
an important stop on one of the
Santiago de Compostela routes through France.

Some friends of hours just finished walking the pilgrim route from France to Santiago last winter... I'd love to do that. I've been there - by car...hardly counts!

Our friend walked the northern Spanish route this summer for 6 weeks. It sounded amazing, but 6 weeks of walking 20-40 km a day! My legs hurt just thinking about it.
I admire her!
