Photo du Jour - Gnocchi

Homemade gnocchi, or cavatelli, as my family calls it. We made a huge batch when we were all together last year and this year we're doing it all over again.

There are four generations cooking together today. My grandma, who turned 92 last week, down to the youngest, my niece, who is 10. We're making pounds and pounds of cavatelli and meatballs and sauce.
There will be a grand feast tonight! Pin It

Sounds wonderful. Hey, do you know I have a grandmother who is 92 too? I think maybe we talked about this when we met up.

I'm so jealous - of the yummy meal and the thought of cooking with all your family. That's what it's all about 8-) Bon App!

This is Calvin! Could you give your receipe for Gnocchi to Shawn so he will make it for me and feed me? Thanks!

Also, he needs the walnut sauce too. Again, hurry as I am starving to death.

You have waited the whole year for this. It is what happens to us too when we go to France and we all meet usually in my sister's country house near Rodez.
Cheers to you and your family!

Love all your posts from NOLA...
the images are wonderful and colorful.

These Gnocchi look amazing...I made some the other day and dusted them with my tomato powder from my summer tomatoes and parm reggiano...delicious.

So wonderful...and so appropriate that you are cooking for some reason! Seems like a group recipe somehow.

Betty
I think we did talk about that.
My grandma is amazing! She cooks and drives and loves to go out and doesn't miss a thing. It is great to spend time with her!

Valerie
That really is what it's about! Glad to hear that you're back in the Minervois. See you soon.

Heather
Thanks! We're making the most of our short time together. :)

Calvin!
Hey handsome. Now that you're a big star of the stage, I am honored that you still find time to read my humble blog.
I'm working on getting the gnocchi recipe written down and posted. I'm sure Shawn will make sure that you don't starve to death in the meantime.
The walnut sauce I made is here: http://www.leitesculinaria.com/recipes/cookbook/pasta_walnut.html

Thank you! The feasting went on through the weekend.

It was worth the wait!
When is your next trip to France?

Glad you liked the photos. :) It is such a colorful weekend, I can't resist snapping away!
Please tell me more about your tomato powder...

Laura
It was a wonderful weekend. I'm so glad that my family shares my love of cooking.

Maybe the trick to making gnocchi is making it with friends. The last time, I made it alone, and it wasn't very fun.

It is definitely more fun with a group. My grandma said the same thing - no fun to do alone!
