Craving French Cheese

Been away from home for three weeks now.

As I sit here cramming bottles of Crystal hot sauce, Community coffee with chicory, comfortable pj's from Target, cookbooks, DVD's and new shoes into my bags I can feel the excitement building.
After the boring, 20 hour journey back to France I will be happily greeted by my little family of five and plan on getting either a button of chèvre or a wedge of Comté in my hands as soon as possible.

In a perfect world I would be able to get one of these in France...I guess life is all about trade offs.

For now I'm happy with French cheese. And a glass of wine.
Of course. Pin It

Noshing in New Orleans

One can't help but eat like a King (or a Queen) in New Orleans.

Here are a few of the culinary highlights of my trip.

Grilled Sausage and Peppers Sandwich with bread and butter pickle and crispy, salty potato chips at Cochon Butcher.
The sausages, pickles and potato chips are all made in house.

It wouldn't be New Orleans without Hubig's Pies.

Fried soft shell crab Po' Boy from Stanley. Dressed with spicy remoulade and coleslaw. Shake on some Crystal Hot Sauce, and you've got yourself one heck of a delicious, messy lunch!

A mere glimpse of the array of cheeses available at the St. James Cheese Company. They offer sandwiches, cheese plates, charcuterie plates and salads.
I had a sandwich with Gruyère and caramelized onions on grilled multi-grain bread. Divine!
Here's the menu.

Cravings

It's four freaking o'clock in the morning. My codeine cough syrup wore off, I woke up and I'm hungry.

This is what I'm craving. A fried shrimp po' boy.

Looks pretty good, huh? Too bad I can't go out and order one!
