Les Chaises

Stained Glass Lighting

Café Chairs

les chaises

Along with antiquated doors, weathered shutters, outdoor markets, old stone houses and French windows, I am totally infatuated with empty chairs as a photography subject.

Does anyone else share my fascination?

I love peeking inside old village churches.
On a sunny day the light streaming through the windows is magical.

Photo du Jour - les Chaises

Courtyard

These chairs look like they're waiting...
for a long Sunday lunch
for a summer evening apéro with friends
for an afternoon of reading in the shade
for a leisurely petit déjeuner

This week I'm sharing this photo at the show off your shot event hosted by Rachel at and then, she [snapped}.

Photo du Jour - Secret

Glass

An open gate invited me in.
Then I saw the cave like tunnel and the stairway. How could I resist?
Dodging the cobwebs I went in and climbed up. A secret garden!
Off to one side I found a statue of Mary. Tucked under a tree was an old fireplace mantle and in another corner, this dilapidated, empty greenhouse.

Don't forget! Only two days left to win a copy of Patricia Well's cookbook, At Home in Provence.

Photo du Jour - L'Ancien Quartier

Old and New

Antiquated shop signs, peeling paint, faded wood, modern plastic gutters, phone and cable lines, TV antennas. The ancient quartiers are an intriguing mix of old and new. Pin It

Cognac Trip

French windows, shutters and doors are pretty much irresistible if you ask me.

They can be freshly painted in vivid colors or primitive and falling apart. They can be quiet and understated or even staring back at me.
I love them all.

Photo du Jour - Paris Mosaic

Horse Butcher

This old mosaic in the Marais reminded me of the boucheries chevalines that you see in France.

Eating horse meat is just something I can't and won't do.
Yes, it's a cultural thing and no, I'm not opposed to it.  And no, I'm not a vegetarian either.  Far from it.
It's just that the idea of it makes me uncomfortable.

What do you think?  Do you or would you eat horse meat? Pin It
