Life in Paris

Paris

This morning, as I was walking to my local Monoprix with my little shopping caddie to do some grocery shopping, I decided that I should go to the Louvre this week.

That's still such a bizarre concept...the fact that I can just decide to go to the Louvre.
For an hour, for several hours, for the day.

Living in Paris definitely has its advantages.

The Joy Of Being Une Flâneuse

Paris

Last Friday, after a three hour lunch with three very inspiring and intelligent women, I started walking. I walked and walked. And WALKED.

From the Galerie Vivienne through the gardens at le Palais Royal, crossing into the Cour Napoléon and past the Pyramide du Louvre, then across the Pont du Carrousel and past les bouquinistes on the Quai Voltaire before turning down the rue du Bac and into the 7ème arrondissement, taking time to do some people watching and to swoon over the gorgeous pastries at La Pâtisserie des Rêves and les bûches de Noël at Des Gâteaux et du Pain.
Just as the holiday lights were coming on and the Eiffel Tower started to sparkle, I jumped on the métro and headed home.

It was a very good day.

The Most Fun You Could Have at a Museum in Paris. Ever.

Paris

Next time you're in Paris and looking for something a little different to do, I have a fabulous idea for you!
Don a pair of your most comfortable shoes and join Daisy de Plume's Treasure Hunt at the Louvre (THATLou), or what I like to call, The Most Fun You Could Have at a Museum in Paris. Ever. (and if you can come up with an acronym for that, bravo!)

Paris

In the Louvre

THATLou is unlike any museum experience you've ever had.

Each Treasure Hunt has a different theme, so you could find yourself hunting for anything from a pair of 15th century Italian ewers to a 17th century Dutch painting to ancient Greek amporae.
And remember, the Louvre displays over 100,000 objects in a space that covers more than 60,000 square meters (approx. 650,000 square feet) - hence the need for comfortable shoes!

Once that clock starts ticking, the game is on, and believe me, those 90 minutes whizz by in a flash.

Next time you're in Paris, go and spend an evening at the Louvre with Daisy. You'll have a blast!

What more can I say?

Paris in the Spring

What a cliché. But I can't wait!

I haven't been to Paris in eight years. Eight years! We've lived in France for four years and we've never bothered to make the trip. My sister is coming to France at the end of April and we're spending four glorious days in Paris.
She wants to go to the Louvre and I want to take her to the Picasso Museum and to the Rue Cler market. And the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Musée d'Orsay and Spring restaurant and the Marais and the rue des Rosiers where I want to try the strudel at La Boutique Jaune de Sacha Finkelsztajn and have her taste the thickest, richest hot chocolate ever at Angelina on the posh rue de Rivoli.
And, and and...

I don't think four days will be enough. Pin It
