These chairs look like they're waiting...
for a long Sunday lunch
for a summer evening apéro with friends
for an afternoon of reading in the shade
for a leisurely petit déjeuner
This week I'm sharing this photo at the show off your shot event hosted by Rachel at and then, she [snapped}.

I love the way we tip the chairs, to keep them clean and ready to use, to advertise that summer is for sitting around the outside table, too!
Great shot. Makes me wonder who sat there last and what was the conversation. Those shutters could tell lots of stories.

The leaf strewn terrace, the waiting chairs, petit dejeuner, le dejeuner, a lire, apero... it is wonderful how you find stories, life and magic all around you amongst the gentle antiquity of the landscape in the south of France.
Makes me want to enter the scene with a cup of coffee, a croissant, and a book. I'm reading Julia Child's letters to Avis De Voto. That would be a fine book to be reading in that picture!

Yes, they should always be ready for an impromptu gathering.

They could! This house sits empty for many months of the year and I always wonder who owns it.

Grazie!

Thank you. I'm always happy to hear when others share my love for the simple beauty of France.

What a perfect book to read in this courtyard!
This makes me want to picture the particular food that would be served for a petit dejeuner or a light lunch in the sun or shade. I imagine it would be delicious, refreshing and satisfying.

I say, "All of the above!" I love the table/chairs in France. Lovely photograph!

what a great shot! makes me wonder if I tip my chairs like that if it'll make my patio seem that much fancier. ; ) thanks for showing off this week!
now I can live vicariously through that shot. thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you got the feel of the place through the photo.

I love these typical French chairs too. I don't see them often down here. People seem to buy those horrible white plastic ones now...
Rachel
Tipping is done for practical reasons, but it does add character to the chairs. :)

You and me both! I would love to have a little courtyard like this one.
Glad you enjoyed the photo.
