We got them to save some for us. The best mead I ever made (and won many awards for) was Pie Cherry Melomel (fruit mead made with pie cherries). It was slightly sweet, but with a tart-almondy flavor, and the color of a fine red wine.Brass Froghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12307659637495326795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20775625.post-31357547338760794982009-08-16T16:31:42.504+02:002009-08-16T16:31:42.504+02:00What a lovely food gift..a great treat! Place them in a jar, add vodka, cap with tight lid and mix. Stir daily during the first days, later at least once a week for 3-4 weeks.

Add sugar, and stir until most of it has dissolved. Stir again at least once a week for 3-4 weeks. Filter the mixture of berries and alcohol and transfer the liquid to a bottle. After three months strain the liqueur thru a cloth. Add some more sugar if necessary. The liqueur should mellow for at least 4 months before drinking, preferably for 8 months.

I'll know how it tastes in about 6 months!Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18245742506531002363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20775625.post-74750754331197797642008-05-24T19:27:00.000+02:002008-05-24T19:27:00.000+02:00Oh, I almost took a shot of some cherries today bu...Oh, I almost took a shot of some cherries today but then decided not to.

We don't get many griottes around here.Betty Carlsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17155852272383173880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20775625.post-24240663121434122592008-05-24T17:17:00.000+02:002008-05-24T17:17:00.000+02:00I have a sour cherry tree - the birds leave those ...I have a sour cherry tree - the birds leave those for us, but I never knew what to do with them.
(We don't stand a chance with the sweet cherries)Katie Zellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17498599461583826030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20775625.post-86769698935627434062008-05-24T17:01:00.000+02:002008-05-24T17:01:00.000+02:00Hello,Do you have a recipe for your Sour Cherry Li...Hello,

Do you have a recipe for your Sour Cherry Liqueor?

Thanks,
CharlesCharles Eversonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14975086291432962448noreply@blogger.com
