Real Butter

French butter

butter label

It's still hard for me to believe that 10 years ago I was eating an über processed, fake food product called I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. By choice.

I have since mended my errant ways.

I can't believe you ate "I can't believe it's not butter" ;)

Good butter is hard to find in Brasilia. I have to drive across town to buy "Presidente" french unsalted butter. So expensive, too. Sometimes, my life is really hard.

And Norman butter is the best of all!

That should have been in the pre-organic food era?

I've never heard of this product in Canada:-) it might be he case that the Canadian government imposes stricter standards on
food imports:- )))

Anyways,I just now noticed
an interesting book on provencial cooking as a giveaway through Julie Mautner’s site: http://theprovencepost.blogspot.nl/2012/11/another-fine-french-book-giveaway.html

Thought you might be interested in this offer.

Have a good weekend!

Glad you've repented. That picture of real butter is mouth-wateringly good. And I'll bet you don't have to read the labels to see if the cows were fed on rGHB and other noxious chemicals. :sigh:

Some from Brittany might disagree...(but I agree with you!)

La Torontoise
It wasn't. And I should have known better than to eat that stuff!
Thanks for telling me about the giveaway.

No, not good! :)

Emm
I try to buy from the smaller farms and local producers here in Normandy, so no, I don't worry about that. Luckily.

Sadly I think there will always be a market for low-cal, low-fat, no-fat, fake food in the US.

TCH
I am afraid to even watch that...he gives me the creeps! lol

Oh God, I still remember the taste of French butter from, well, decades ago! It cured me of being a picky eater. What a wonderful photo!

I've been giving gifts of Normandy salt butter to friends from Paris and getting them all addicted! :)

And I'm secretly hoping you manage to somehow smuggle me in a demi-kilo next time you're across the pond. :)
