Thank You Mark Bittman

choux-fleur

The cauliflower at the markets in Normandy right now are irresistible.
Not only for their price - 2 heavy, generous heads for only €2 - but for their versatility.

So how happy was I to recently stumble across this cauliflower article in the NY Times by Mark Bittman?
One Vegetable, Four Meals.

Thank you Mr. Bittman!

Your new house looks so sweet!

My mother always used to make a delicious Chinese stir fry with cauliflower and broccoli and shrimp and ham......but I think I really FELL for cauliflower when I had it as a souffle in France. Now I eat it a million ways (ok at least 4) and 2 heads for 2 Euros - what a deal!

Yum! Love cauliflower and usually roast it. Just saw a recipe for cauliflower and white cheddar soup that I am going to try.

The prices of vegetables here in France, coupled with their quality and flavor, almost turns this family into Vegetarians.

We did one head in roasted curry and loads of butter.

I have found that prices have gone up quite a bit after the freeze! Diane

MB is on to something with the cauliflower and egg. A dish I enjoy uses cauliflower chopped in bite size pieces, par boiled, cooled, mixed with chopped raw onion, sliced hard boiled eggs, mayo, pitted black olives and grated cheese such as cheddar. Tasty.

I really like Mark Bittman's simple recipes that he has included in his New York Times column. So much so in fact, that I now have several of his cookbooks. He has a way of making simple preparations very tasty.

Mlle
cauliflower soufflé? wow!

Sharon
I don't think I've ever roasted cauliflower. My grandma makes an Italian version that is steamed then covered in a cheese sauce. It is heavenly!

I know what you mean. We eat a ton of vegetables.
Cauliflower curry is one of our favorite ways to enjoy it.

I'm heading to the market for the 1st time in 2 weeks, so I'll have the chance to see if they did here as well.
