Is There Such a Thing as Too Much Cheese?

Livarot AOC

The other day I counted ten different kinds of cheese in our fridge.
Eleven if you include the tub of mascarpone.

Le Grand Vielleux

It made me wonder, is there such a thing as too much cheese?

Brillat-Savarin fermier

Le Grain d'Orge

Comté

deux chèvres

Mais non!
One can never have too much of such a good thing.

I agree with the concept but sometimes I go overboard at the cheese shop and I have to invite friends over to help eat it. Love cheese!

I agree, you can't have too much cheese. I am sure you have wonderful cheese plates on a daily basis.

I can't believe you even thought to ask the question!

As long as you have plenty of nice bread and nice wine to go with it? NO.

hi Loulou,
I have a big dilema. I will come to France this fall and I have no idea how to proceed renting an appartment since I have to have a job and all other formalities. I have the money, so I can I rent a place in the South?
Thanks a lot.

Agreeed :) I have 7 different kinds right now... and I feel very, very good about it.

I have at least 6 going in the fridge, excluding the Parmigiano Reggiano and the Gruyère for cooking .

BTW: I saw that you had snow in the Calvados yesterday but I feel for those who are in the south - snow on cacti and palm trees in Marseilles and black ice on the street in Ciotat.

Having a good choice is always important. :)

Kate
You're welcome!

Mary
Nothing quite like a good Manchego, and Mahon sounds very interesting. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to Spanish cheese (other than Manchego). Must try that sometime. Thanks!

jfoureur

I'm continually amazed by the different varieties of cheese that I keep discovering in France. The one I'll be writing about next was incredible!

Gretchen
That's exactly how I look at it. :)

If you have money and some proof of income then I'm sure you'll be able to find someone to rent you an apartment. Good luck!

We had a bit of snow but it seems Provence was hit much harder.

Thanks! We had a nice quiet day inside today with movies, soup, bread and, of course, cheese.

Too much of a good thing is never enough...so no there is no such thing as too much cheese!!!

There is only too much cheese in your fridge if you can't fit any more in there.

Andi said...

You can never have too many cheeses, we usually have at least 10-12 in our fridge at any given time as well!

Ooh la la! What beautiful cheese, you are living in the right place

Good rule of thumb. I'll have to remember that.

Andi
