5 Reasons to Visit the Languedoc-Roussillon in December

1) The Marché aux Truffes in Villeneuve-Minervois

Cassoulet Hot Out of the Oven

2) Cassoulet.  When the cold winds blow, there is nothing better.

3) Vin Chaud.  Same as above.

Lunch at Gruissan Port

4) Quiet, sunny seaside towns.  The perfect place to enjoy a leisurely lunch of moules frites and a bottle of Picpoul de Pinet.

5) It's the south of France!  Any time of year is a good time to visit. Pin It

I have never had the pleasure of tasting truffles - one day. As for cassoulet that is planned for Boxing day, I brought all the ingredients back with me :-) Happy Holidays. Diane

I am so with you on the vin chaud. And the cassoulet. That looks amazing! Makes me want to spend another week making one from scratch, duck confit and all.

There was a news story today that a farmer in Provence is up on capital charges because he shot, and ultimately killed, someone who was stealing his truffles. A horrible thing, but I have some sympathy for the farmer.

Where was your lovely seaside picture taken?

These are perfectly lovely reasons to visit the Languedoc in December or any of number of other months too. I am not sure which I would say would be my favorite reason. I will be in Montpellier on Monday for a belated Christmas with my uncle and cousins. Happy Holidays.

The flavor of truffles is unlike anything I've ever tasted. You must try one day.
Enjoy your Cassoulet! And happy holidays to you too.

Anne
Glad you like the header. :)
I'm sure we'll see you down here one of these days!

I haven't made one yet this year, but it has been so cold - perfect Cassoulet weather!

I read that story as well. I can understand the farmer's side as well, but terrible that someone got killed over it.
The photo was taken in Gruissan.

It is an amazing place, any time of the year. Autumn is my favorite season overall, but December is always so festive.
Enjoy your holidays in Montpellier.
