Photo du Jour - 1€

Our food budget would be almost nothing if all we ate were tomatoes and radishes!

The local wine is still cheap, so we can't complain too much. Only 1,30€ a liter, which is cheaper than diesel fuel now. Too bad our cars can't run on wine. Pin It

You are right about wine being cheaper than diesel fuel. Isn't it amazing? One producer sells us red wine for less than one euro a liter (but that's without paying the taxes, which is a no-no). Another has Côt/Malbec reds for €1.15 a liter, and they are excellent. And so it goes. If only we didn't have to drive to go to buy wine and bring it home.

It is crazy! When we arrived the price for diesel was about .71 centimes a liter. I believe you arrived the same year.
We can get wine for less that 1.30€, but our favorite co-op is a mere 1 mile down the road, so we don't have to use up too much fuel to get the wine!

I don't think we can find anything fresh foodwise for one euro a kilo at markets -- maybe Géant has that type of sale but we hardly ever buy fresh food there.

They look good to me -- especially the tomatoes!

The price of produce is quite cheap here. Meat is another matter!
