Meme Time - I've Been Tagged

Being that I'm back from "vacation," I can finally get around to doing this meme that I was tagged for a couple of weeks ago by Amy at We Are Never Full.

I first heard from Amy when I wrote about Rachel Ray. Not big fans of Ray-Ray over there at We are Never Full. She has written some hilarious posts about her perky nemesis!

On to the meme...

THE RULES:

1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird things about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Sounds easy enough.

Seven Random/Weird Things About Me:

1. I loathe grating cheese.

2. From a very young age I used to tell everyone that I was going to be an Entomologist when I grew up. I still regret not following my dream...

3. The movie Friday the 13th, which I saw on my 13th birthday birthday slumber party thanks to the newest invention of the early 1980's- Cable TV, scared the living crap out of me. I looked under my bed every night for years afterward, expecting to find Jason there to kill me.

4. When I was 18, I once spent five days eating nothing but Lucky Charms cereal. For breakfast, lunch and dinner. For five days. I must have been on the biggest sugar high!

5. I adamantly refuse to use Starbuck's stupid coffee lingo. Not that I have the opportunity (thankfully) to do so very often. It is a large, dammit, not a venti. And you know what really bugs me, now that I'm on this rant... they use all this pretentious, Italian inspired language, then when you try to order a ristretto,* they didn't know what you're talking about!

6. Stationery, pens and paper products are my secret vice. New Orleans has a fabulous, little shop, Papier Plume, filled with gorgeous writing instruments, blank books and paper. I could spend hours in there along with my other favorite, Scriptura, which specializes in cards and stationery.

7. I love listening to frogs and toads singing and croaking.

Blogs I'm Tagging:

Jeanne at Cook Sister!
Aimee at Put Your Flare On
Lisa at Homesick Texan
Polly at Polly-Vous Français?
JenJen at Milk and Cookies
Ms. Weasel at La Belette Rouge
Camilla at Enlightened Cooking

Hope you all can join in and share some of your weirdness!

Thanks so much, Loulou! So great to know some stuff about you. I totally agree w/ you about Starbucks. It's so pretentious that you have to say 'venti'... ridiculous! And, the career counselor in me must tell you that "it's never too late to follow your career dreams!" (cheesy, but true!). Also, yes, I do not have many nice things to say about Ray-Ray... but you're lucky, you live in France where you don't have to see her face and hear her voice all over the TV! I have a feeling the French would HATE her. But, yes, she does evoke some strong feelings in me! Thanks for playing and have a great weekend!

Thank you for tagging me, Loulou!! I love to play meme-games with you. Will get to it when I get back from my cottage hunting in Austin. I will be bringing back tales of Austin eats and pictures of my adventures.

And in respond to your meme:
1) That is what Cuisinart were made for.
2) I always mix us etymology and entomology. My confusion with words bugs me.;-)
3)I had the same experience after seeing the Exorcist.
4) Well, they are magically delicious.
5) I get miffed at my He-Weasel when he will not order in the Starbucks language. It doesn't bug me at all that you don't. I suppose there are special rules for husbands.
6) I just read about a great stationary store in the Ille Saint Louis. Do you know it?
7) I am a fan of birds and there chirpy songs.

I will still do the meme on my blog. Even though I just did a meme comment on yours.
Have a great weekend!
And, Loulou, it is Miss Weasel and not Miss Anonymous ;-)

Thank you for tagging me. It was fun!
I asked my husband what he thought was weird about me and he replied, "nothing." He earned points for that!
Ray-Ray is all over the place in America, I definitely noticed while I was there. You can run, but you can't hide! :)

Miss Weasel,
Of course you're miss weasel, not ms. anonymous! duh! I changed it immediately.
Don't know the stationery store in Paris, but I'll look into it and maybe I can go and drool the next time I'm up there.
Yes, husbands have special rules.
Have a great trip! I look forward to your responses.

So, insect-lover, have you been to Micropolis in Aveyron? It's pretty cool if you're into creepy-crawlers.

re; #5. as an ex-barista i think i might be able to explain the lack of knowledge about a ristretto shot. old school Starbucks used La Marzocca espresso machines where you actually had to have a bit of skill to pull a shot. it allowed for different kinds of shots like a ristretto. modern Starbucks has automatic machines and don't teach the baristas anything but how to push a button. of course the old machine left me with a bit of a wrist problem...
also, i too hate grating cheese. it's the husband's job.

betty,
I remember driving by signs to Micropolis on our way to Paris on the A75. I would love to go! Have you ever been?

Cara,
I remember the wrist strain well! :) I was a barista in college, as I think almost every Seattleite during the 90's was at one time or another!
I forgot that they use automatic machines now. can't they still hit a button to stop the shot short or something?

I ALSO hate graing cheese and make my husband do it!
I was surprised that I knew some of those things about you already. Thanks for sharing the other interesting tidbits.
I agree with Amy- I think you should pursue your dream!

donna,
Bonjour mon amie!
I suppose I could go back to school and become an entomologist...just cannot imagine doing it in France!
